Where does the name talisay come from?
The City of Talisay is on the coast of cebu city and is known as the Queen City of the South for its progressive community. It is the first city located 12 kilometers from the southwest of Cebu City and is serve asian intermediate area on the south of metro cebu and is the gateway to the west and southern towns of the province. Talisay became a component city by virtue of Republic Act 8979, basked in the beautiful coast of Cebu Province.
The City of Talisay got its name from the magtalisay trees that are endemic in the municipality which abounds all over the town. These talisay trees are characterized as leafy with a heart-shape base, large and strong, and beautiful which represents the unity, strong belief of the towns people and the beautiful coast of the municipality itself.

Aside from the magtalisay trees this queen city of the south is also known for its tasty "inasal na baboy"(roasted pig) in which the towns people itself cant resist. It is usually serve during special occasions like fiestas, birthdays, blessings, graduations and a lot more. This tasty roasted pig were not only patronize by the town's people but also with the other people abounding Cebu City.
The historical background of talisay is illustrated as a progressive city and is still preserved by the municipality and will always be historical for more upcoming generations.
